It's a blessing and a great opportunity to be here, learning from the mistakes that the older guys made. Donte Stallworth and Chris Herren's stories really stuck out to me...that was just so heartfelt and deep that you had to feel it. They are impacting other's lives greatly by sharing their stories. And that is a reminder to me to be the best person I can be by setting an example for the next man because you never know who is looking up to you.
We've also learned a lot about the financial side of things. It's easy to say that you're going to save your money, but I can tell that it's harder when you see that check. There's a temptation to go spend it, but I didn't buy anything when I first got my check. I've always thought about saving my money. That's the type of person I am and the home I come from. My mindset goes far past football. I'm already thinking about setting up my life after football now. I'm looking for ways to make the right investments and eventually start a business.
My transition has been smooth so far. Coach Fisher is such a player's coach and helps the rookies out. He didn't just throw us in the fire, he let us get accustomed to things slowly, so it's been pretty good.
Everything is going well for me so far...
